Abstract
This project supports the organization of a hands-on VASP workshop offering an introductory course in ab initio simulations using the Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package (VASP). The workshop combines accessible, foundational lectures with guided practical exercises to provide participants with both conceptual understanding and direct computational experience. The lectures and training sessions will be delivered by Ferenc Tasnádi and Davide Sangiovanni from Linköping University. Participants will perform electronic structure calculations. The primary objective of the project is to ensure the availability of adequate computational resources for the successful implementation of the workshop within the framework of FunMat-II, thereby strengthening competence in first-principles materials modeling. There will be seven (7) participants, all from Sandvik-Coromant Stockholm. For the hands-on we would like to reserve four compute nodes on Sigma.
