Abstract

Recent research evolved the role of red blood cells (RBCs) in hemostasis from a passive bystander to important modulator of clot formation and stability. We are interested in explaining the uptake of red blood cells into blood clots. Our data suggest that it is mediated by an interaction between the red blood cells and fibrinogen or fibrin. We would like to predict fibrinogen and fibrin potential binding/interaction partners in the red blood cell proteome using Alpha-Fold. We hope it would give us new targets to test in our in vitro clotting model and lead us to identify the interactions responsible for red blood cell retention.
