Abstract
We will investigate the Early Dark Energy (EDE) models as a resolution to the Hubble tension, one of the major problems in contemporary cosmology. EDE is among the leading proposals. It resolves the Hubble tension through a new phase of dark energy in the early universe and replaces our current cosmological standard model, LambdaCDM. This project is supported by the VR Starting Grant 2022-03160 of the Swedish Research Council. For a seminal paper see for example https://inspirehep.net/literature/1800935.
In particular, we will test different incarnations of EDE models against current cosmological datasets such as the temperature and polarisation maps from the cosmic microwave background (the first light emitted after the Big Bang), baryonic acoustic oscillations (data from Galaxy surveys), supernovae, and large-scale structure data. In this project, we will perform a limited data analysis to familiarise ourselves with the SNIC computing environment. Ultimately, this is supposed to lead to an application for more extensive computing resources.
