Abstract

We are using a program called Scipion and relion to process cryo-electron microscopy data. These programs are installed on Berzelius through the PreSTO effort, but are not available on Lunarc where we run most of our calculations in general. In addition to this, we run a lot of structure prediction calculations using AlphaFold2, and the hardware setup at Berzelius is optimal for these type of runs. The scientific problems we study are the structure of hepatitis B virus capsids with nucleic acids loaded. We study the protein by cryoEM. We use AlphaFold2 to predict the structure of proteins we design using computation protein design methods. The main project is to design protein encapsulation systems. Designed proteins are characterized experimentally and studied by cryoEM, again creating the need for Scipion and Relion.
