Abstract

Electrifying fossil fueled jet skis is important to create an environmentally better alternative for recreation, passenger transport, ecotourism and events on the lake. It is therefore of the utmost importance to optimize the powertrain and jet unit to keep energy consumption down as much as possible but at the same time be able to deliver vehicle performance. There is thus a balance between most efficient speed, high top speed, energy efficiency, range, and operating time between charges. The current project is aimed to use numerical simulations (computational fluid dynamics) to analyze, improve, and optimize an existing jet unit regarding various parameters under in different operating conditions. It is part of the 12 ECTS project course in Applied Mechanics (TMPM07) during the fall semester 2022 and is coupled to a developing project provided by the startup company E-watercraft here in Linköping. The course is mandatory with the master profile of mechanical engineering (M and MEC program). This year the project consists of one group with five students.
