Abstract

This project will process raw Capture-Seq read data for the Stoebe clade of paper daisies to obtain full alignments. The data comprise 96 accessions, each containing ca. 3-4 million raw reads produced on the Illumina NovaSeq SP sequencing platform with a custom set of 836 probes derived from the Conserved Orthologous probe Set (COSII) of Mandel et al. (2014). These data form part of PhD candidate Zaynab Shaik’s dissertation work, and will ultimately be used for (i) inferring a better-resolved, more comprehensively sampled phylogeny of the Stoebe clade, and (ii) estimating the clade’s ancestral area and understanding its diversification in the hyper-diverse Greater Cape Floristic Region of South Africa.
