Abstract

The purpose of this project is to investigate the generation of optical frequency combs in dispersive resonators with cubic and quadratic nonlinearities. The combination of dispersion, nonlinearity, damping and driving allows for the observation of a wide variety of different dynamics such as instabilities, periodic and localized solution as well as chaos. The evolution of the combs will be modeled using envelope equations for the intracavity field based on both Lugiato-Lefever models and an Ikeda map approach. Parallel processing will be used for making large scale parameter sweeps to match simulations with experimental results.
