Abstract

In oil-hydraulic systems, cavitation-related erosion is a common problems which could result in severe damage and failure of essential components. To minimize these hazardous effects it is important to understand not only where and why cavitation occur but also its erosive interaction with the local near-wall environment. The current project is aimed towards improving cavitation predictions in oil-hydraulic systems using complex CFD simulations. It is part of the 12 ECTS project course in Applied Mechanics (TMPM07) during the fall semester 2021, and is coupled to the present research conducted at the Division of Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics. The course is mandatory with the master profile of mechanical engineering (M and MEC program). This year the project consist of one group with four students.
