Abstract

My research focus is the mathematical modelling of the brain, including the intracellular signalling, and the vascular response. By describing the biological systems with mathematical models, one can test hypotheses of the biological system. By evaluating the model one can gain insights into the biological system that is unmeasurable. It is also possible to simulate new scenarios and make predictions of how the system would respond, before performing an actual experiment. This project aims to deduct how the intracellular signalling of different neurons give rise to the vascular changes of blood vessels in the brain that generates the BOLD signal.
