Increasing the aerodynamic efficiency for a Formula Student car is of the essence when lap times needs to be decreased. This work will investigate the aerokit of LiU Formula Student’s car and how higher downforce and lower drag can be achieved with manufacturing techniques used by LiU Formula Student. This will be achieved by optimizing wing shapes and adjusting their position as well as developing a new diffuser and side wings using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). The car will be simulated in steady state, roll and yawning to ensure that the car performs well under cornering and braking. Initial setup of the car will be done using steady state simulations and transient simulations will be done to refine the design. This work will be carried out for the course TMPP02.
