Abstract

During January until the end of March of 2020 I will teach a master level course on the Earths global climate system. The course includes topics such as climate sensitivity, variability, instability and state-dependency. An important component of the course is that the students will conduct experiments with a state-of-the-art CMIP6 climate model, MPI-ESM1.2, albeit at a very coarse resolution of 400 km grid spacing to allow students free and easy experimentation, and furthermore permits top students to expand the learning experience beyond the course material (e.g. studying the ocean circulation or carbon cycle).
