Abstract

Today astronomers know of several thousand exoplanets that orbit around other stars. At Lund Observatory we do research into the formation and evolution of exoplanetary systems. We study dynamics of dust grains and the formation of planetesimals in hydrodynamical simulations (using the Pencil Code). We also study the migration of planets and the accretion of gas onto planetary cores using the FARGOCA hydrodynamical code, with radiation hydrodynamics. We also simulate the evolution of planetary systems using the N-body code MERCURY. Finally, we are developing a new planet formation code called PLANETESYS, supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant, that will be tested and used at NSC also.
