Abstract
Caches are essential to achieve performance and energy efficiency in modern CPUs. However, caches only leverage spacial and temporal locality when placing data in the memory hierarchy. This research aims to identify how effective in terms of performance and energy efficiency current cache placement methods are and what’s the impact of relaxing/extending some placement/replacement strategies.
