Abstract

High altitude and latitude regions are often the most sensitive regions to climate change. And these regions, in turn, exert significant influences on weather and climate systems. However, there is few or even no observational network in the regions. High-resolution regional climate model such as RegCM4 can well reflect regional climate details and fill the gap of lack of observation to some extent. And the fine scale RCM modeling results will provide reliable atmospheric forcing for other models, such as land surface model, snow-melting model, and hydrological model. Therefore, generating good RegCM4 simulations are particularly essential for studying climate over high altitude and latitude regions.
