Abstract

The HUGO project and other genome sequensing pjects has made a huge amount of sequence data avaliable to researchers. Analyzing this data requires large amounts of resources and specialides software. Using the BLAST and HMMer software we will perform whole genome analysis of both DNA and protein sequences looking for conserved regions. The results from these whole genome studies will be used to identify new genes not only in human but also in other vertabrate and some invertebrate spieces. Using our own software Phanto we will perform large scale phylogenetic analysis to determine the relationships between the newly discovered genes. Software is also being developed to perform the large scale analysis needed to search/verify the existance of paralogues groups (paralogons) and investigate theories of functional clustering of genes.
